One BEAUTIFUL family
This family are so very important to me and I love them all A LOT. In 2008 they packed their bags and headed off to St Petersburg, Russia to plant a church. I first thought they were NUTS for choosing Russia, it is cold there and the language is not the easiest to learn, but I waved them off and cried about it.
In April 2011 I booked flights and headed over to Russia to see them and to see what they get up to. Their church which originally started with 5 people meeting in a living room has grown to a church of nearly 100 people.
The thing I was most looking forward to seeing and experiencing was a Russian baby unit. Rachel visits a baby unit where all unwanted children and babies go before being placed in an orphanage. Rachel had told me that the staff who worked in the unit never played with the children, babies were left in cots and they very rarely if at all, got to go outside. I couldn't wait to go and PLAY, give CUDDLES and show LOVE to these children.
When we went into the babies room there were no toys anywhere. The week before Rachel had left some toys for them, she found them in another room in a cupboard!

A little girl aged 3/4 went crazy about this book which is aimed for babies.
All this child and her friend had to play with was a box of bricks and a car. |

When we had to leave all the babies cried and cried, it broke my HEART. A member of staff came and locked the door behind us even though they were all screaming.
What Rachel does with and for these children is amazing. She shows them LOVE. I am so HAPPY I was able to be apart of this and maybe one day go back.........
