South Africa 2011
On July 17th 2010 I got on a plane and traveled ... a long way, to Durban, South Africa where I was going to be volunteering for six weeks for a charity called PROJECT O.
PROJECT O is a Christian run charity who work with AIDS orphans in a place called The Valley Of A Thousand Hills. Here they visit orphaned children and give them food, blankets and pray with them. As well as giving out food and blankets to children who are in desperate need of it they also visit a local school also based in the Valley and give breakfast to the children (many children leave for school without ever having breakfast). Two children's homes have been built by PROJECT O and many more are also being planned.
During my time with Project O I was able to experience all these WONDERFUL things they do for children and help make a difference in their lives. I quad biked round the Valley giving out the food, I sat in school lessons and I helped to build the beginnings of the new house. Truly AMAZING .... As well as, skydiving, trying snails and seeing some sights of Durban.
